Ruth's Empty Nest

Ruth Anne's Children

Ruth Anne has 3 children, Lori Anne, Mishelle, and Bertwin.  There are also several others who are very dear to her.  Dawn lived with the family for a few years.  Steve & Dulcie are also like her children. Four of the six are far away.  Ruth Anne is glad to have Dawn and 2 of her 5 children still close by.  Now Shelley is only 3 hours away.

Lori Anne & Bertwin

It is hard to keep up with what these two are doing.  It would be easier to create a link to Bertwin's website so you can read what he says for himself.  http://www.bertlord.com

Dawn & Neil

Dawn lives with her family on a dairy farm less than 20 miles from Ruth Anne.
They have 5 children:
Nathan, Heather, Hannah, Marleah, and Steven.

Nathan is an Agriculture teacher
in western Wisconsin.
Heather is married to Brian Boyle
and lives in south-eastern Wisconsin.
Hannah is married to Brian Harper
and lives in Pennsylvania.
Marleah is in High School.
Steven is in Elementary School.

It is great to have family close by!

Mishelle

Shelley has recently moved to the Rockford, IL area. That seems pretty close compared to Hawaii or Kurdistan.  She will be close enough to make it easy to visit.

Steve & Dulcie

Steve has been close to the family for many many years.  When he started seeing Dulcie, it didn't take long for her to become another daughter too.  They now have 4 children:  Sam, Hannah, Rhodey, and Maggie.  Imagine what happens when the children are asked how it is that Ruth Anne is their grandma, and they say that their parents are her children.

Currently the family is living in Hawaii.  It was not easy to have them move so far away.  At the time, Lori Anne and Bertwin were living in Honolulu -- just another island in the same part of the world.

A plate doesn't look like very much
Just china dabbed with paint and such
But all the same they kinda keep
A family record, so to speak;
A record of long happy years
And then plum lonesomeness and tears.

Start out, young married people do
By setting plates out just for two.
Then before you know it, seems to me
They start a laying plates for three!
And after that you watch the rate,
It soon increases to six or eight.

At first two plates aren't very bad,
Because folks don't miss what they haven't had
But after plates have once been set,
The hardest task discovered yet,
Is taking them up one by one,
Until you are back to where you begun.

One plate, when six or eight were there,
And noise and clatter everywhere;
Children empty to their toes
And short on manners, goodness knows
Just babies, and now they've gone
And there sets this one plate all alone.

A plate doesn't look very much
Buth they are filled with memories and such
Love woven into every flowered wreath,
The hardest task under the sun
Is taking those plates up one by one."
